SCRIPTURE
“But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (AMP)
MESSAGE
The death of the Lord Jesus gave Him the legal right to go to hell because the sin of man was laid on Him. Jesus, a righteous man, bore the sins of all humans when He died. Isaiah 53:5 says that Jesus was “bruised for our guilt and iniquities.” (AMPC). On the cross, Jesus died two deaths. He died spiritually first when our sins were laid on Him. He was cut off, separated from the Father and He cried out “My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me” (Mark 15:34). When that happened, it became possible for Jesus to die physically. Then He went to hell in the spirit, in our place. (Colossians 2:15). Jesus publicly defeated Satan and the demons of darkness and came out of death and hell in victory.
PRAYER / CONFESSION
Dear Father, I thank You for Your love shown to me through Jesus’ death on the cross. I believe Jesus, bore my sins and took my place, enduring separation from the Father so that I might be reconciled to You. I believe and affirm that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life. I am grateful I have eternal life. Amen.
